The King County prosecutor’s office had to reduce his charges to reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
Meanwhile a lot of discussion was going on in blogs across the country. Should Jake be given a break because he had been under so much stress from losing his father? Some said yes. Father said no (wasn’t his father dead?). The reality is that if there had been evidence to prove that he was drinking and driving, DUI charges would have been pressed. There just was not enough evidence to support the arresting officer’s assumptions.
